The indoor pool sits in a vaulted stone cellar that used to be the building's olive press: warm water at 30°C, low amber lighting, and arrow-slit windows that frame Parnassos in the distance. It is small: a 12-metre pool for soaking and slow lengths, not for training.
Pool stays in Arachova
Arachova is Greece's answer to the Alpine ski town: a stone village hung on the side of Mount Parnassos, twenty minutes from the country's biggest ski centre and ten from Delphi. In winter it fills with Athenians who come for the slopes and stay for the tavernas, and the smartest hotels here have worked out that what a cold mountain evening really needs is a warm indoor pool.
Pool stays are rarer here than on the islands, which is precisely what makes the good ones worth knowing about: vaulted stone spa levels, heated water, fireplace lounges one floor up. Worth knowing: the village books out solidly on winter weekends from December to March, while midweek stays are both quieter and noticeably cheaper. Summer flips the script: cool mountain air, empty pools and Delphi on your doorstep without the crowds.
