Think small and personal: one kidney-shaped pool sits at the heart of this eight-room hotel, with the guest buildings close around it. The water is heated saltwater and the pool is open all year, with a shallow end for easing in. Palms and potted plants soften the edges, and after dark underwater lights turn it a deep blue.
Umbrellas and bright green loungers line the deck, pool towels are provided, and a couple of orange beanbags lie on the paving. With only eight rooms and every guest over 25, the pool feels more like a shared garden than a hotel scene. Here's the thing: it's a pool for floating and cooling off, not for laps.

The stay
Beyond the pool
Villa RG is on Avenida Estados Unidos in Playa del Inglés, on Gran Canaria's south coast. The Yumbo Centre is about 500 metres away, Playa del Inglés beach is a 10-minute walk, and Gran Canaria airport is 28 km. Aqualand and the Maspalomas golf course are both close by.
There are eight rooms, from compact doubles with a terrace to an apartment with a kitchen, and all have air conditioning and their own bathroom. Breakfast can come to your room, there's a small bar and coffee corner, and housekeeping comes daily. Massages and a paid shuttle can be arranged.
Not for everyone: check-in is only for guests aged 25 to 90, the upper rooms are reached by stairs, and parking is free but on the street or in public spaces nearby.

Questions people ask
Is the pool heated in winter?
Yes: it's a heated saltwater pool and it's open all year.
Can children stay at Villa RG?
No. Children aren't allowed, and check-in is only possible for guests aged 25 to 90.
Is there parking?
Yes, and it's free: there's public parking and street parking nearby, with no reservation needed.
Ten suites line up along one long, narrow pool here, and the ground-floor terraces open almost straight onto it. The water is heated saltwater and the pool stays open all year, so a January swim in Maspalomas is part of the deal. Grey daybeds sit right at the edge, palms lean over a curved stone wall, and an outdoor rain shower waits in a timber alcove beside the water.
The pool at El Palmital curves across a green lawn, with a shallow, beach-style edge that slopes gently into the water under tall palms. It's heated and open all year, which is exactly what you want from a Gran Canaria winter, and the low white bungalows with their red-tiled roofs sit close around it. A sunken seating area is set into the grass beside the water.
The main pool is a proper 25-metre one: 25 by 17 metres, heated to 28°C and open from 07:00 to 20:00, with a roped swimming lane along one side and a sloping, wheelchair-accessible entry. Palms and low white bungalows frame it on every side. A second, 14-metre pool sits in the outdoor Zen Spa, kept at 35°C, with jets and waterfalls.
