It's heated and open all year, which is what makes this a winter option rather than a summer one, and it's free to use. A children's pool sits alongside it.
Around it are sun loungers and umbrellas on a wide terrace, a pool bar, and Zacary's, the resort restaurant, right by the water. Worth knowing: the children's pool is reported as heated too by the island tourism board, but the resort itself only says that of the main pool, and one December guest found the water cooler than expected. Expect a lively family pool with an entertainment team, not a quiet one.

The stay
Tenerife South airport is about 4 km from Wyndham Residences Golf del Sur, a 10-minute drive: this self-catering resort of 106 apartments and villas sits in Golf del Sur, on the island's south-east coast. The Golf del Sur course starts a few hundred metres from the gate, the fishing village of Los Abrigos with its fish restaurants is 5 km, and Playa de las Américas about 15 km. Shops, bars and restaurants are a 350 m walk, and a bus stop sits at the end of the road.
The units run from studios through one and two-bedroom apartments to villas with two or three bedrooms, each with a full kitchen, washing machine and a terrace or balcony; the villas are small two-storey houses with their own patios. There's a mini-market on site, breakfast, an à la carte restaurant and snack bar, and a kids' club, mini golf, table tennis and billiards, with an entertainment team running the evenings. Parking is free and check-in starts at 16:00.
Not for everyone: the resort sits under the airport's flight path, so you'll see and hear planes during the day, and the nearest sandy beach is a drive away rather than a walk.
